Precision Pressings for the Manufacture of Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS)

A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is an electronic system that monitors the air pressure inside a vehicle’s tyres, and alerts the driver if that pressure falls below a certain level.

It’s designed to improve the safety, fuel efficiency and service life of tyres by helping to ensure that they are properly inflated.

As of the 1st of November 2014, it became compulsory for any new vehicle registered in the EU to have a TPMS safety device fitted.

Clamason have helped countless automotive manufacturers to meet this new demand by producing a range of pressed metal TPMS components, straight from our factories in the UK and Slovakia.

Tyre Pressure Sensors

The construction of TPMS components varies depending on whether they are to be assembled to the vehicle, or connected directly inside the tyre.

Vehicle mounted components are produced in cold-formed structural steel (S275 / S355 / S420) and sub-assembled with a weld or clinch stud. The parts are then coated for corrosion resistance using electrophoretic paint which provides 1000 hours of resistance against salt-spray.

Alternatively, tyre mounted components are manufactured in either stainless steel or brass using our high-speed stamping Bruderer presses.
