Precision/Progression Pressings

From conventional progression tool pressings, where a material is pressed into a specified shape, through to drawn parts, where a material is stretched to the desired shape, Clamason can offer the full range. Our presses range from 100 tonnes to produce precision components for smaller pressed parts and 300 tonnes for larger components. These presses can run at speeds of up to 80spm (strokes per minute) and are suitable for use with a wide range of different materials to work on parts from the size of a stamp to the size of A4 paper.

High Speed Pressings for Precision Components

Clamason have a long history of producing small pressed components since being founded in 1947. Historically, the process was quite slow and a key focus for Clamason’s engineering team has been the development of the high-speed stamping area, which allows precision components to be produced at a rate of more than 1,000 per minute using a range of high-speed Bruderer and Kaiser presses.

Precision components produced in this area are manufactured in a range of materials including Stainless Steel, Copper, Brass, Phospor Bronze and Nickel Silver in thicknesses ranging from 0.1mm to 1mm. Transfer Pressings

Transfer pressings were developed in order to have totally automated, labour-free precision component manufacture which involves transferring the parts from one station to another in a sequential process. These are ideal when components need additional steps in manufacturing, such as packaging, joining corners together and/or require the stamping direction in different orientations on the same component.

We would typically use these lines for consumer electronics housings, automotive infotainment housings and ECU covers with typical materials being pre-coated / pre-painted steels and aluminium.

Multi-Slide Pressings

Multi-Slide presses have been in operation at Clamason since we were founded with many different machines being used including Heenan and Fraude, Rockwell and Bihler. They work by allowing the strip to be fed in on its side, firstly into a cutting tool before moving onto a forming station, potentially eliminating the need for secondary metal pressing operations.

Precision components produced using this technology are mainly for the electrical and building sectors where volumes are relatively high and material utilisation is key for competitive pricing.
